Home remedies for common pests

Here are some methods so that these pests do not stay in your house and can cause you some type of illness.

Cockroach powder

It is not easy to get rid of these insects, even less when you find out that while you will become nothing during a nuclear explosion, they can survive it. However, there are much simpler methods to prevent your home from becoming infested with nasty cockroaches:

You will need a cup of diatomaceous earth (food grade) and a half cup of powdered sugar or icing. You must mix both ingredients and place it in crevices or any other place where the invasion enters. Repeat the procedure as many times as necessary.

Balls against moths

This remedy is normally used when the moths have already established themselves somewhere in your house. The important thing is not to resort to the ones sold on the market, since they contain many chemicals such as naphthalene (flammable and somewhat toxic). So make the balls yourself:

You will need several cotton balls, which you should moisten in the following mixture: two tablespoons of water, 3 drops of eucalyptus oil, 3 drops of lavender, 5 drops of cedar and 5 drops of cloves. Squeeze the excess liquid onto the cotton and once they are dry, place the balls in cabinets, drawers, and anywhere else you need. It is advisable to change them every two or three months.

Garden slugs and snails

It is very painful to see how that garden to which you have dedicated blood, sweat and tears, is infested with these pests. But you should not despair and resort to those commercial products full of chemicals (some toxic). Instead, build a trap with a scent that keeps these invaders away.

You will need to recycle eggshells and crush them. Then you should mix with 3-4 crushed garlic cloves and a cup of water. Finally spray the liquid around the affected plants.

It is advisable to sow herbs such as mint, sage, fennel, chives or foxglove, as it is a scent that could ward off many pests.
